Happy Birthday Usagi, Chibi-Usa and Chibi-Chibi!

Every year on Usagi’s birthday, the Sailor Moon official parties gift us fans with either a special party event held in Japan, special merch release announcements or at least a mention of it of social media. Sometimes we get extra lucky and Naoko Takeuchi sensei shares with us her latest illustration of Usagi and Chibi-Usa’s birthday.

This year, Naoko sensei has made an illustration not with Usagi & Chibi-Usa but Chibi-Usa & Chibi-Chibi to remind us that she also celebrates her birthday on June 30th!

June 30th is inarguably the most important day for the Sailor Moon franchise and the fans. It’s quite exciting to see the tradition continues.

This image has also been printed and signed by Naoko Takeuchi Sensei and is now being shown at the Sailor Moon Store!

And for the first time since the new Official Sailor Moon website opened (2012 ish?), they have changed the header on the main page to this illustration! They have never done this before, not even on previous Usagi’s Birthdays!

UPDATE: X user @kokoaako1 has cleverly pointed out this art is not entirely new, it is a digital composite made with two different images found in volume 18 of the Tankobon manga. It is a still a current colorization though.
